.06 Temporary Licensure.

A. Board Action. The Board may grant a temporary license to practice as a radiographer, a radiation therapist, or a nuclear medicine technologist to an applicant who meets the eligibility requirements specified in §B of this regulation.

B. Application. An applicant for a temporary license shall:

(1) Meet all the requirements for licensure specified in Regulation .04B(1)—(6) of this chapter;

(2) Be scheduled to take a national certifying exam as specified in Regulation .04B(7) of this chapter within 3 months of the date of graduation from an approved education program;

(3) Submit the required application form; and

(4) Pay the application fee as specified in Regulation .18 of this chapter.

C. Practice.

(1) A holder of a temporary license in radiography may practice only under direct supervision of a licensed radiographer or a licensed physician who is overseeing the work of the temporary license holder.

(2) A holder of a temporary license in nuclear medicine technology may practice only under direct supervision of a licensed nuclear medicine technologist or a licensed physician who is overseeing the work of the temporary license holder.

(3) A holder of a temporary license in radiation therapy may practice only under direct supervision of a licensed radiation therapist or a licensed physician who is overseeing the work of the temporary license holder.

D. Scope. The holder of a temporary license may perform any of the procedures specified in the relevant sections of Regulations .07—.10 of this chapter under direct supervision, as specified in §C of this regulation.

E. Conversion.

(1) If the holder of a temporary license passes the required examination, the individual shall notify the Board, in writing, on or before the expiration date of the temporary license.

(2) If the Board receives the notification specified in §E(1) of this regulation, the Board shall issue a standard license to the individual at no additional charge.

(3) If the holder of a temporary license who passes the required examination fails to provide the notification required in §E(1) of this regulation on or before the expiration date of the temporary license, the individual shall file a new application and submit a new application fee in order to be licensed.

F. Expiration.

(1) Except as provided in §F(3) of this regulation, a temporary license expires 30 days after the date the applicant was scheduled to take the required examination.

(2) If the holder of a temporary license fails to take the examination on the scheduled date, the individual shall:

(a) Notify the Board, in writing, immediately; and

(b) Cease to practice on or before the expiration date of the temporary license.

(3) If the holder of a temporary license fails to achieve a passing score on the examination, the individual shall:

(a) Notify the Board, in writing, immediately; and

(b) Cease to practice under the temporary license.

G. Extension or Renewal.

(1) A temporary license may not be extended beyond its original expiration date.

(2) A temporary license may not be renewed.
