10.44.24.01.htm 10.44.24.01. 01 Use of License.. The license of a retired volunteer dentist or a retired volunteer dental hygienist shall be used only for volunteer services and not for compensation.

A dentist or dental hygienist shall be granted a retired volunteer dentist's or dental hygienist's license if the dentist or dental hygienist:1) Meets the qualifications for licensure as a retired volunteer dentist or dental hygienist; and. 2) Is covered by a personal policy of malpractice insurance.. A dentist or dental hygienist with a retired volunteer license to practice dentistry or dental hygiene in the State shall practice only:1) In a dental office;. 2) In a dental clinic;. 3) In an ambulatory care facility;. 4) In a hospital; or. 5) For an entity providing medical care to the poor, the elderly, or handicapped that is operated:. a) By the State;. b) By a local government;. c) By a bona fide charitable organization; or.
10.44.24.07.htm 10.44.24.07. 07 Expiration Date of Licenses.. A retired volunteer license to practice dentistry and a retired volunteer license to practice dental hygiene expire on June 30 of the second year following the effective date of the license.

Before a retired volunteer license to practice dentistry or dental hygiene expires, the licensee may renew it for an additional term if the licensee:A. Submits a completed renewal application on a form provided by the Board;. B. Completes the continuing education requirements for an active general license to practice dentistry or dental hygiene in the State;C. Submits proof satisfactory to the Board that the dentist has donated at least 100 hours of dental

A dentist or a dental hygienist who has been granted a site-specific retired volunteer dentist's or dental hygienist's license shall immediately surrender the license to the Board when the dentist or dental hygienist ceases to:1) Provide volunteer dental or dental hygiene services at the institution named on the license; or. 2) Be covered by malpractice insurance from or through the institution named on the license.. 10.44.24.10.htm 10.44.24.10. 10 Fees.. There is no fee for an initial retired volunteer license to practice dentistry or dental hygiene, and there is no fee for the renewal of a retired volunteer license to practice dentistry or dental hygiene.
10.44.24.11.htm 10.44.24.11. 11 Violations.. Violations of this chapter pertaining to the use of a retired volunteer license constitute unprofessional conduct and may result in disciplinary action against the licensee as set forth in Health Occupations Article, §4-315, Annotated Code of Maryland.
