10.10.09.01.htm 10.10.09.01. 01 Qualifications.. A. Certified Chemist and Certified Chemical Analyst. An applicant for certified chemist or certified chemical analyst shall:1) Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in chemistry, medical technology, biology, physics, pharmacy, pharmacology, or forensic science;2) Have completed courses in analytical and organic chemistry; and. 3) Have completed a basic training program for certified chemist or certifi
10.10.09.02.htm 10.10.09.02. 02 Approved Training Programs for Chemists, Chemical Analysts, and Analysts.. A. Certified Chemist.. 1) An applicant for certification as a certified chemist shall have successfully completed:. a) The basic training program for forensic drug chemists offered by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration; orb) A training program in the discipline of controlled dangerous substances provided by a forensic laboratory licensed by the Department.
10.10.09.03.htm 10.10.09.03. 03 Employment, Employment Certification, and Automatic Decertification.. A. Employment. An individual applying for certification under this chapter shall be currently employed by the:1) Department;. 2) Maryland State Police;. 3) Baltimore City Police Department; or. 4) Police department of a municipality or county in this State.. B. Employment Certification. An applicant's supervisor shall certify that the applicant is currently employed by an agency listed in §A of this regula
10.10.09.04.htm 10.10.09.04. 04 Procedures.. Chemists, chemical analysts, and analysts certified under this chapter are certified only when performing those drug identification procedures:A. Approved by a forensic laboratory licensed by the Department; or. B. Contained in the "Forensic Chemists and Analysts Training and Procedures Manual" 1992, which is incorporated by reference.

The signature of the certified chemist, chemical analyst, or analyst performing the drug-identification procedure;B.
